Opening a new location during a pandemic is not an ideal situation for anyone; however, the plans to expand Last Stand Brewing Co. to a location in the city have been underway for quite some time. After a few final (and at times frustrating) permits from the city, the new location is open for business off of South Congress.

“We started looking for a second location in 2016.” says Sampson. “The ideal location would have an underserved community looking for a comfortable place to spend time with friends. A communal place in the neighborhood. We found that on South Congress. WAY south on South Congress. We are excited to join the South Austinites! Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly. We picked the right spot.”

Because of the pandemic, the team had to pivot their original expansion plans and put a few things on hold, like new brewing equipment, so the beer will continue to be brewed at the original Dripping Springs location and transported to the new Austin facility. Designed with the help of OPA Design studio, the large open space allows plenty of room for social distancing in two different seating areas. Serving food was always in the expansion plans, so expect burgers and other pub fares to pair with your beer. With the brand new crowler machine, you will also be able to take home a fresh selection or a six-pack from the beer cooler.

The new location boasts a full menu curated by local favorite Southside Flying Pizza featuring burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, and several shareable items. Last Stand’s original location off Fitzhugh remains open with no plans to close. Check the brewery’s website for hours at both locations.
