TABC Label and Brewery Approvals

In this week’s TABC label and brewery approvals, not many things have been approved at all. This is actually quite a slow week. With that said, Firestone Walker XIX Anniversary was approved, which is always nice to see. Considering how long it takes to get most of the barrel aged bottles from them in Austin, there is no saying when it will show up on shelves.

On the topic of delayed beers, it is sounding like Cantillon is still a couple weeks out from being approved. The main issue that this is causing is Jester King’s Zwanze Day will be pushed back until December (or even January).

Now, for those waiting for Goose Island’s Black Friday – there have only been two beers approved for Bourbon County in their new 16.9oz bottles. Those two are the Coffee and Proprietors (which will likely not be available at all during these events). There is an approval for normal 2015 BCBS from back in May, but it is only for a 25oz bottle (which does not appear to be happening since all of the beers are supposed to be in 16.9oz bottles). The previous year’s approvals will not work due to the new bottle size and label. This is not to say that they are not approved; it sometimes takes a little time to show up in the system, but usually not more than a couple of days. There are times that things still have not even shown up in the system that I assume are approved – Praire’s new Bomb! label has never shown up in the system yet it has been showing up all over Texas for the last month. I am assuming Goose Island/AB-InBev have a way of making things happen, so I am guessing all of the beers they have listed will be there next Friday, I just find it interesting that nothing has shown up in the system. It usually is just one label from a bunch that goes missing, not a whole series of beers.
