TABC Label and Brewery Approvals April 15 2016

The biggest news this week did not even come from TABC label or brewery approvals. Bell’s announced they plan to start distributing to Texas in 2017. While that is quite some time away, it is good to hear. Along with that, we can finally stop the 5 year long rumor that they will be coming soon. This week’s TABC Label Approvals: K = Keg B = Large format bottle bb = 16oz format bottle b =

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals April 8 2016

While the numbers are small on this week’s TABC approvals, there were some interesting things showing up. First, there are two new breweries getting approvals. DFW’s Hopfusion received their first approvals – which they already went on tap at a bar on the very first day they received it. So, you should start seeing them around DFW immediately. Then we have Kerrville’s Pint and Plow. Both received approvals for only kegs for the time being.

Uncle Billy’s Brewery and Smokehouse Celebrates 10th Anniversary

We had the opportunity to talk to Uncle Billy’s Co-founder Rick Engel yesterday about their upcoming 10th Anniversary. I asked Rick if 10 years ago where he expected things to be with Uncle Billy’s. Rick said he had hoped they would be this successful and that the recent Brewpub TABC law changes in 2013 really helped them, specifically in regards to being able to distribute. (Silly Texas Beer laws!) A lot has changed for Uncle Billy’s in the

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals April 1 2016

This week’s TABC approvals seems to be about a lot of new cans. True Vine, Live Oak, Texas Ale Project, Independence, and Real Ale all have new cans approved. Cans tend to be my favorite vessel to drink a beer from, so I approve of this. Did I mention more Live Oak cans. Yes. Berliner Weisse and Primus. We can all be happy now. Also, I took a position with Goose Island as a sales

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals March 25 2016

So, yes, I missed a week. And I am even late on this week’s TABC label approvals. I am on vacation and was meaning to, but between skiing in the Caucasus Mountains, dealing with bad Armenian and Georgian roads, and drinking crappy Eastern European mass produced lagers, I got lazy. Surprisingly, the internet was not an issue there. So, enjoy a double dose of label approvals. All of the Clown Shoes approvals are basically just

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals March 11 2016

There is a lot going on this week with TABC label approvals. I will start with The Bruery. We are getting the first batch of their approvals showing up. I think this will give us an good idea of what we can expect to see in Texas – which is a bunch of solid beers. Tart of Darkness will always be a favorite, but we are also getting So Happens It’s Tuesday, which is a
