Over the past several years, breweries have modified business models, expanded food programs, and for the most part, have been able to keep the beer flowing. Despite efforts to adapt to the “new normal” several other breweries were forced to close. This list rounds up the closures, openings, and expansions in the Austin area since January 2020.

Fitzhugh Brewing Announces New In-House Chef

Chef Andrew Lange joins the Fitzhugh Brewing team, and will oversee their in-house kitchen at Fitzhugh replacing, PEJ Kitchens; a subsidiary of Poke-E-Jo’s Smokehouse. Under Chef Andrew’s direction, Fitzhugh Brewing will deliver new menu items focused on approachable, scratch-made dishes with a twist. The new menu will highlight smoked meats, comfort foods, and seasonal sides, all of which will satisfy any palate. 

“When I was presented with the opportunity to join the Fitzhugh Brewing team and lead their new in-house kitchen, I knew right away that I couldn’t pass on the opportunity,” said Chef Andrews. “Being able to reimagine a one-of-a-kind experience for guests from the ground up has always been a passion of mine and I look forward to sharing our new menu items that features my unique spin on local classics.”
