Austin Beerworks Hosts the Ultimate Brewery Chili Cookoff
Austin Beerworks is at it again—bringing their signature quirky fun to the world of chili cookoffs! On Saturday, February 22nd, from 11 AM to 3 PM, nine Austin breweries will go head-to-head in a battle for chili supremacy at the first annual Austin Beerworks Invitational Chili Cook Off.
“I’ve always wanted to host a chili cook off event around National Chili Day, which is February 27th this year. So when our head brewer approached me with this idea of hosting a cookoff with other breweries in town, I knew we had to make it happen this year. We all make great beer, so it’s going to be fun to see who gets crowned best chili.”
Each local craft brewery is cooking up a prized chili recipe and pairing it with a specially selected beer. Attendees will taste all nine chilis, sip on nine perfectly paired 4oz beer pours, and cast their votes to determine the Attendee Favorite. Meanwhile, participating breweries will vote amongst themselves for the Brewers Bowl Winner with all winners announced at 2 pm.
“When we were talking about whose chili was going to represent Austin Beerworks at the chili cook off, the easy choice was to ask our head chef, but then we had another idea. We decided to have an internal Austin Beerworks chili cook off to let the employees pick the winner. We had six employees submit a chili and everyone voted. Our winner was one of our food truck employees, Ben Davis.”
