Austin Craft Brewing Company and Power Brewing Project Open This Weekend
Published 6/21/2024
It’s an exciting week in Central Texas as two long awaited breweries are finally ready to open their doors.
Austin Craft Brewing Company [South Austin], one of the winners of the 2023 Method Architecture and Texas Craft Brewers Guild New Brewery Grant, has been live on social channels for about a year now sharing Austin brewery news and hype with the community. More recently we’ve seen glimpses of their Stevie Ray Vaughan mural painted by @omar_chow, and their new glassware, both of which you can now see in person by visiting their taproom at 4700 Burleson Rd – the former site of Orf Brewing and Starbase Brewing, in the center of the Pinthouse / Independence / Meanwhile brewery district. By opening successfully, ACBC has broken the Central Texas curse of previous grant winners Prismatic Brewing, Urban Jungle Brewing, Cassette Brewing, and Monarch Brewing, who have since been unable to turn the grant into a successful launch. ACBC (or ACBCo perhaps) is open from 11 am to 9/10 pm this weekend, and then 4 pm to 10 pm during the week.
Power Brewing Project [Hutto] was scheduled to open last October, but was prevented from doing so by the Williamson County Health Department, as we reported. As usual, the government was slow, but now the permits are all taken care of and they are ready to open at 3333 Co Rd 119 #130, Hutto, TX – in one of the many storefronts at the Affordable Storage building (maybe do some shopping too?) And of course, once you’re done there you can visit the other Hutto brewery, Rockabilly, who recently reopened following renovations. Power is open from either 2 pm or 4 pm until either 9 pm or 11 pm… see the instagram post below, and expect time variations in the coming weeks as they move from a soft to a full opening.
More Breweries Opening Soon?
We’re expecting two more breweries this summer – keep an eye out for news from St. Elmo 2 and Old Gregg Brewing Co., both of whom have large facilities under construction in northeast Austin.
