Barks for Beers Returns for 2025
Popular fundraising event Barks for Beers, operated by local charity Divine Canines, is returning to Central Texas for their 11th year. Starting on May 1st, visit any of the 30 breweries listed below to pick up a pint glass and Pawsport for $30 + tax. Then, you can use that Pawsport at all 30 breweries throughout the month of May to receive one pour at each.
Divine Canines provides free therapy dog services to various populations including older adults, hospitalized patients, school reading programs and more. Our mission is: Partnering with our dogs to enhance the well-being of those in need. Barks for Beers helps us keep our training costs affordable and helps us keep our volunteers, human and canine, equipped to provide the best possible free services.
As always, don’t forget to tip the taproom staff!
The History of Barks for Beers
We’ll specifically go through this year’s list below, but let’s start with some charts. The first one is brewery participation among all breweries that are currently open (and have participated at least once). The second chart is all breweries, even closed ones. (Note: If you’re on a computer you can right click -> “Open image in new tab” for a larger image that can be zoomed in. If you’re on a phone, pinch to zoom as usual.)
Important note: The event did not occur in 2020 due to the pandemic, but the brewery list was already available – as such, the 2020 year is colored white in the below chart to recognize the breweries that signed on to participate. With that in mind, it’s actually been 12 years since Barks for Beers began, but excluding 2020 means there’s been 11 years of operation.

2025 Brewery List
Below is this year’s list of breweries. Here are a few notes compared to last year:
- Dripping Springs is GONE. The three breweries that participated last year have all chosen not to this year, putting a big hole in the usual map.
- Instead – to the southwest, Lone Man Mountain has signed on for the first time, joining Middleton, Roughhouse, and of course Vista. If you’re headed to Real Ale it seems likely that you’ll be taking [checks map] FM32 from San Marcos to Blanco in at least one direction.
- Maybe stop by Star Republic Brewing!
- To the northwest, Lago Vista has joined the Lake Travis fam of Oasis, Infamous, and Frontyard. Learn more about them here!
- Got another one for you – a new brewery is opening right down the street from Frontyard very soon. We missed it on the article linked above, so here’s the drop. Not open yet, but could be by late May.
- Leander + Cedar Park return with the same four breweries – 5th Element, Obsidian, Red Horn, and Red Horn again.
- I was surprised that 3rd Level is actually joining for their first time, I could have sworn they were on here last year. In addition, two of the three new Hutto breweries are now on board – Power Brewing Project, and Rockabilly Brewing.
- The third one opened… literally today, so they have a good excuse.
- Old Gregg has joined Prost for the Pflugerville core.
- In Austin proper: It’s no surprise that the Domain area has had it rough the last few years, but Hopsquad and Celis are back again to keep it alive.
- Time to shed a tear… famous BFFs Black Star and Brewtorium are no longer together, as Black Star closed earlier this year. Brewtorium is carrying the torch though, and is now joined by this year’s winner of the “stopped doing B4B for a few years and then came back” award, going to Oddwood, who last participated in 2022.
- Finally – Southern Heights, Live Oak, Stay Put, Nomadic, Vacancy, Independence, and Fast Friends are all back again, with ACBCo. now joining in.
