Local Breweries Fundraise to Help Those Affected by the War in Ukraine

As the war in Ukraine passes the 100th-day mark, local breweries have teamed up to continue fundraising efforts to support those affected by this horrific war.

International Children’s Day Celebration and Fundraiser for Ukrainian Kids Tickets Sunday, June 12, 2-5 p.m.

This weekend, Les Dames d’Escoffier Austin, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the work of exceptional women working in the culinary, beverage, and hospitality industries, has rallied to create a fundraising event benefiting OHMATDYT children’s hospital in Kyiv, Ukraine. Led by chapter member Lena Ognyanova who is originally from Ukraine, members of the organization are contributing items to create a truly Austin basket for a family-friendly picnic event celebrating International Children’s Day. The event serves as a fundraiser for Ukrainian children impacted by the war, “OHMATDYT children’s hospital, in Kyiv, Ukraine needs money to buy medical devices and supplies to continue to provide surgeries treatment to the little patients of OHMATDYT. Because of the war, there are a lot more children with wounds and injuries caused by regular shelling and bombardments in Kyiv,” per the event listing.

This fun, kid-friendly event takes place this Sunday, June 12 at Vista Brewing in Driftwood from 2-5 p.m. Buy a curated picnic gift basket for $75, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the hospital in Ukraine, and choose from a variety of extras to enhance your donation. When Beer and Art Unite for Good

Independence Brewing Co. teamed up with Austin-based American Canning and the Soundwaves Art Foundation by creating a one-of-a-kind can with art originally made from sound waves, signed and sold to benefit charities around the world.

On June 18th, Soundwaves will be hosting a Ukraine relief fundraiser at their gallery in Lockhart, TX. The beer will be available to attendees to enjoy in a special can design that utilizes art from their Ukraine Emergency Support collection including works based on songs from The Killers, Cat Power, Margot Price, Tame Impala, a new limited Ukraine-edition of Soundwaves’ best-selling David Bowie “Heroes” print.

“Thanks to the generosity of American Canning, we were able to offer the beer and special cans to the Soundwaves Foundation free of charge, allowing for 100% of the proceeds to be donated to Children in Conflict and War Child UK, longtime partners of the foundation that have made an outstanding effort to support hundreds of thousands of refugees,” from the social media post.
