Violet Crown Oktober(ish)fest Returns November 7 With Free Beer and Up to 20 Local Breweries

Austin’s fall festival season isn’t quite over yet. The Violet Crown Neighborhood Association is bringing back its annual Oktober(ish)fest on Saturday, November 7, offering an afternoon of local craft beer, live music, food and community fundraising.

Presented by Eldorado Café, this year’s festival runs from noon to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection at 2200 Justin Lane, across from Lala’s. The family-friendly event will feature beer from up to 20 local, independent breweries, along with sausages and live music. Admission is free, as is the beer, with fundraising supported through cup sales and donations.

While the beer is certainly a draw, the event has a larger purpose. Proceeds benefit Violet Crown Community Works (VCCW), which funds neighborhood improvement projects, including ongoing improvements to Brentwood Park. The organization also provides grants supporting projects in Brentwood, Crestview, Allandale, Rosedale, Wooten and Ridgetop, among other communities.

The festival has also extended its charitable reach beyond the immediate neighborhood. In 2024, Oktober(ish)fest supported a Webb Middle School program that rewarded students for academic achievement with field trips. In 2025, the event contributed $1,000 to a school food pantry program serving students and families. Organizers are currently finalizing plans for an additional community beneficiary for this year’s event.

Oktober(ish)fest began in 2016, organized by a group of women active in the Violet Crown neighborhood associations. After a few years, the considerable effort required to put on the event nearly brought it to an end. That changed in 2019, when neighborhood supporters stepped forward to help keep it going.

A Celebration of Local Beer and Community

What makes Oktober(ish)fest stand out is the combination of its neighborhood roots and its support of Austin’s independent brewing community. For local beer enthusiasts, it’s an opportunity to sample beers from a wide range of breweries in one place. For newcomers to craft beer, it’s an approachable way to discover some of the independent producers that make up Central Texas’ brewing scene.

The event also depends on community participation beyond simply showing up. Organizers are looking for volunteers and sponsors to help make the festival possible and expand its charitable impact.

The 2026 Violet Crown Oktober(ish)fest takes place Saturday, November 7, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 2200 Justin Lane. Admission and beer are free, with donations and cup purchases supporting the event’s charitable work.

Attendees are encouraged to walk or bike to the festival when possible. An indoor contingency plan is also in place in case of inclement weather.
