Real Ale Pint 4 Life Blood Drive

Real Ale Pint 4 Life Blood Drive

(Austin, TX) July 7, 2015 – Real Ale Brewing Co. and Doc’s Motorworks 38th are partnering with The Blood Center of Central Texas to help boost summer blood donations.

Donors are invited to visit the central Austin (4300 N Lamar) or Round Rock ( 2132 N Mays St) Donor Centers beginning Monday, July 20 through Saturday, July 25 to donate and receive a commemorative Pint 4 Life glass. Donors will also receive an invitation to join The Blood Center and Real Ale at Doc’s Motorworks 38th for one of four “Donor Nights Out” in August.

August Donor Nights Out will take place every Thursday in August (6, 13, 20 & 27) from 6 pm – 8pm at Doc’s Motorworks 38th (1106 W 38th Street). Donors are encouraged to bring their invitation to be entered to win raffle prizes and visit with representatives from Real Ale and The Blood Center of Central Texas onsite. Ten percent of all food sales during each Donor Night Out will benefit The Blood Center of Central Texas.

Summer is a time when donations fall due to increased travel and school closures. Unfortunately, it is also a time when the possibility for accidents tends to occur because of increased travel and outdoor activities. In order to meet the needs of the Austin community, two hundred blood donations per day are needed. The Blood Center of Central Texas asks Austinites to consider donating a pint the week of July 20th in exchange for a Pint 4 Life glass and an invitation to Doc’s Donor Night Out events. An hour of time donating blood provides a lifesaving gift for three patients in this community!

Basic requirements to donate blood include being at least 17 years old, weighing at least 115 lbs for whole blood donation and being in generally good health. Donors need to bring a photo ID. The process takes approximately 45 minutes to one hour.
