South Austin Beer Garden Slated To Open So Soon

Location: 10700 Manchaca Rd Austin, Texas 78748

Austin, TX – March 19, 2019 – South Austin Beer Garden is the newest spot for a cold beer in South Austin. The business owned by David Pearce, Ryan Thomas, and Christopher Cantu has been a dream and a process but is finally coming to fruition.

The business concept was designed in 2014 when the “old blue house on Manchaca” was purchased and leased to the business owners. The “blue house” located at 10700 Manchaca Road was originally located downtown and moved to its current location in South Austin in two pieces sometime in the 70’s. In recent years, it was abandoned, run down, and on the edge of falling apart. “The blue house is very well known in the area and it is an honor to have been able to restore it back to something special that the entire community can enjoy”, said, owner David Pearce.

Each of the owners has over 20 years experience in the bar industry and wanted to add another option to the South Austin line up. “The goal is to have a place that offers a great selection of beverages with the best hospitality possible”, said, owner, Christopher Cantu. With a location locked in and a concept in mind, the trio began their adventure and 5 years later, opening is upon us.

South Austin Beer Garden will be a family friendly venue until 7:00 p.m. and will offer beverages for adults and kids alike.

There are 62 taps total. Fifty three of these will be beer taps, ranging in flavor from domestic favorites to local Texas beers to craft beers.

The venue will also offer 2 wines, 5 craft cocktails, and 2 non-alcoholic options on tap.

SABG will offer frozen beverages for adults but will also have some frozen options for the kids. The staff will be happy to make these frozen options into adult beverages for those over 21. A full menu of liquor options will be available, as well as bottled beer and wine options so that no one will leave the establishment with “nothing to drink”.

The venue will be pet friendly, as well.

South Austin Beer Garden will be home to several food trucks. The first to commit to the location was Cluck N Burger , the 2018 winner of the Trucklandia, as featured on Good Day Austin. Owner, Ryan Thomas said, “We met, interviewed, and tasted food at a variety of food trucks. We were impressed with the overall taste, quality, and variety available from such a small kitchen.” Menu options range from between the bun, chef driven items with layers of flavor. Vegetarian items are available and customers can expect a twist to many standard food items.

Owners have begun to plan a soft opening but are not ready to announce the date at this time. An official grand opening will be scheduled approximately one month after the soft opening. “The soft opening will be a chance to make sure that employees are trained and to make sure that all the kinks are worked out”, said owner David Pearce. The trio looks forward to getting open and entertaining new friends on the 3,000 square foot deck.
