Austin Beerworks to Release Limited Edition Austin FC Cans

A unique beer collaboration is on the horizon between Austin Beerworks and the original Austin FC supporter group Austin Anthem. Starting the week of Austin FC’s first home match on June 19th, Austin Beerworks will be releasing the first of 17 beer cans commemorating the inaugural Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
“We didn’t realize what a huge deal having an MLS team was going to be for Austin”, says Austin Beerworks co-founder Michael Graham. “When we first met with Austin Anthem about doing something special for this first season, their passion and excitement for finally having a home team to support was super-infectious and we went a little overboard.”
Each can will be a collectible, special edition representing each of the team’s 17 home matches of the 2021 season, all designed by Austin Beerworks’ branding partner Helms Workshop. “As soccer fans ourselves, we were excited to be part of something so monumental for Austin,” said Helms Workshop designers Greg Thomas and Zach Wieland. “We were inspired by vintage sports program covers and loved the idea of bringing the mascots to life. We created Austin Beerworks’ own version of the Austin Anthem grackle along with each opposing team’s mascot to create an original, collectible set of cans commemorating this historic season.”
As for the beer, each design will feature one of Austin Beerworks’ beers and will be limited to 500 cans per release, exclusively available from the Austin Beerworks’ taproom near the Q2 stadium. “We’re proud to partner with Austin Beerworks on this special project that will add even more joy to every home match in 2021,” said Austin Anthem founder and president Josh Babetski. “One of the core values of Austin Anthem is to promote local businesses, so we appreciate being able to show our love for Austin FC while highlighting one of our city’s most well-known craft breweries.”
