Four Central Texas Towns Among Brew City, Texas Locations

Four Central Texas cities are among the nine early adopters of the Brew City, Texas initiative from the Texas Craft Brewers Guild. The new program aims to promote beer tourism in cities with established brewing scenes as well as up-and-coming locales looking for a first brewery. According to TCBG Executive Director Caroline Wallace, “by collaborating with cities committed to celebrating the unique culture and flavors of Texas craft beer, we aim to drive tourism, stimulate local economies, and further establish Texas as a world class beer destination.” Participating cities get access to use the Brew City, Texas mark in their marketing materials, as well as education, joint marketing, and outreach opportunities to the Texas Craft Brewers Guild members.

The initiative has two classifications. “Craft Beer Destinations” are cities that are looking to promote their existing brewing scenes. Central Texas participants in this category include Boerne, Dripping Springs, and Killeen. The second category, “Emerging Brewscapes” are smaller communities looking for a first craft brewery to stimulate economic development. Luling is the lone Central Texas participant in this program. The Beer City, Texas program is part of the Texas Craft Brewers Guild’s five year strategic plan to promote Texas as a world-class beer destination. Other related initiatives include the Texas Craft Brewers Festival held annually in Austin, the Texas Brewery Passport app, and the Texas Craft Brewers Cup competition.
