Hold Out Brewing Acquires North Austin Bar

The team behind Wright Bros. Brew & Brew, Hold Out Brewing and Better Half Coffee & Cocktails is bringing their proven hospitality formula to north Austin with the acquisition of Turnstile Bar and Restaurant located at 10025 Burnet Road.

For Turnstile, a go-to destination for craft beer lovers and Austin FC supporters over the past six years, this is an exciting new chapter. Patrons can expect things to largely remain the same in the near term, with changes rolling out gradually over the coming months. The new ownership group is committed to preserving what has made Turnstile a neighborhood staple while laying the groundwork for what comes next.

The acquisition is a natural fit for both sides. For Turnstile, partnering with the Hold Out team means gaining expertise and resources to improve the game day experience, upgrade the beer garden, and expand parking and the menu.

For Hold Out, Turnstile represents the brewery’s first presence in north Austin, a long-awaited opportunity to bring their brand and culture to a new part of the city.

The alignment in values, customer base, and hospitality philosophy made it an easy decision. Mark Harris, who has been central to building Turnstile into what it is today, will stay on in a management role, along with the current staff. “This is a tremendous opportunity to carry on what Turnstile has created over the past six years and take it to the next level,” said Harris.

In terms of the beer program, you can expect the menu to continue to be highly curated, with the addition of an expanded Hold Out lineup, including core beers, one-off releases, and special collaborations, some available exclusively at Turnstile.
