Fairweather Cider to Relocate, Metric Boulevard Location Closing November 23rd

Fairweather Cider Co. has an official last day at their longtime location on Metric Boulevard. The final service for the cidermaker and their partner food truck Spicy Boys will be on November 23rd, per an announcement on Instagram.
Fairweather announced that they would not be renewing their lease in August, citing a rent hike and the limitations of the current space for parking, outdoor seating, and accessibility. With no new location lined up, the cidermaker will focus on expanding distribution without a taproom, an increasingly popular approach for Central Texas brewers. Fairweather’s cider is contract brewed at Austin Beerworks.
The departure of Fairweather is the latest nail in the coffin of the North Austin Brewery District. At its peak, the area north of State Highway 183 and south of Parmer Lane was home to seven breweries as well as Fairweather. Rapid increases in rent, the construction of Q2 Stadium and rezoning of the surrounding area, the COVID-19 pandemic, and changes in consumer behavior have caused all but three breweries to close or relocate.
