Since Craft Beer Austin’s original profile of Suds Monkey in 2018 much has changed at this staple Hill Country Brewery.  Most obviously, they have a new updated location at 12024 US 290 (@ Nutty Brown).  The new location offers a larger indoor/outdoor style format with plenty of games and activities to keep families entertained.  From the Suds Monkey Family, “Our indoor/outdoor warehouse tap room offers fun for all. We are family and pet friendly. Please stop by, chat with the locals and get the inside scoop on our mascot, Suds Monkey.”

They are still cranking out amazing pizzas and many of the same great beers and styles that their regular crowd knows and loves.  Click here for their Food Menu and Beer List.  Per their website, “Our family owned nano brewery feature fresh, simple yet complex brews and scratch made NY inspired pizza made with love and passion.”

The Suds Monkey graphics and iconic mascot and logos have all been updated and overhauled for the new location and launch.  They are also offering a monthly vertical series and are led by a new head brewer, Marc Woffenden, formerly from Two Wheel Brewing.  Future plans include building an outdoor stage area and creating an indoor event space along with continuing to test new beer and food recipes.

I remember gravitating to beer early. In college (Hook em Horns), my roommate and I would hunt for anything that wasn't macro. In the late 90's that generally meant imports. So he and I drank our way through everything we could find at Bennigans (best import list in Austin at the time) and then The Gingerman. We were at Bitter End, Lovejoy's and Copper Tank every chance we could get. I have been a first hand participant and witness to the change in the Austin beer scene and I cannot wait to see it where it goes from here.
