TABC Label and Brewery Approvals January 29 2016

By Andrew Schwab / January 29, 2016 / 0 Comments

Well, the obvious thing to start with here is that The Bruery is coming to Texas. Yes, this will also be in Austin and not just DFW (like Funkwerks, New Holland, AleSmith, etc). I have no real idea when it will show up as it still has to get label approvals to go through, so likely still at least a month out. Next, I want to call out Abita on something. How do you make […]

A Look at Out of State Brewery Distribution to Texas

By Andrew Schwab / January 28, 2016 / 2 Comments

Every week, it seems, more and more breweries are entering into the Texas market. I decided to create a list of every American “craft” brewery that currently has rights to sell in Texas. I should clarify a couple of TABC rules that regulate breweries coming into Texas. In order for an out of state brewery, to sell beer in Texas, they must apply for a license (as a brewery) to sell here. This costs in the area […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals January 22 2016

Over the last week, we started seeing Knee Deep show up in stores in Austin. It looks like their kegs will be following right after based on these approvals. Along with this, I take it this is why Alesmith released all their beers in DFW this week – all of their keg approvals just came through. Then you have Braindead Brewing (Dallas) who received their first bottle approval. It will likely be used for events […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals January 15 2016

A long list this week for label approvals. I guess it makes up for the last two weeks of slow approvals? This week sees a shift from kegs (over last week) to a bunch of can approvals. There were over 20 can labels approved this week for various Texas and national breweries. Now, we are also seeing the recent AB-InBev purchases of 10 Barrel and Elysian showing up on approvals. That is no real surprise, they […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals January 8 2016

By Andrew Schwab / January 8, 2016 / 1 Comment

This was an odd week for TABC approvals – not many came through and most that did were keg only. With that said, I am happy to see Pinthouse Pizza’s Electric Jellyfish on the list for kegs. I am hoping this means that we can see it at the north location of Pinthouse in the near future (easier for me to get to, so it is completely selfish reasons). Since the label approvals have been somewhat slow, […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals January 4 2016

By Andrew Schwab / January 4, 2016 / 1 Comment

As expected, not much was happening at the TABC over the last week for label approvals. Then, I got lazy over the New Year and did not actually get around to write this up until Sunday/Monday. Anyways, here are the label and brewery approvals over the last week. This week’s TABC Label Approvals: K = Keg B = Large format bottle bb = 16oz format bottle b = Small format bottle c = Small format […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals December 26 2015

By Andrew Schwab / December 26, 2015 / 1 Comment

The numbers are quite a bit lower this week than last week – which is to be expected with the holidays. I expect next week’s to be similar. With that said, 903 Brewers and Karbach Brewing both received approvals for new barrel aged bottles. 903, also, has announced distribution to the Austin area (with this bottle included). The base beer for this received a silver medal in this year’s GABF, so it is definitely one […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals December 18 2015

By Andrew Schwab / December 18, 2015 / 1 Comment

A lot of beers showed up this week. I figure I should get some of the standard questions out of the way that I always seem to be asked when Jester King shows up. Yes, they have sold this at the brewery some time back. No, they do not need label approval to sell beer to go from a brewpub. They only need label approval if it is going into distribution. No, this does not […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals December 11th 2015

By Andrew Schwab / December 11, 2015 / 0 Comments

In this week’s TABC label approvals there are a couple new ones from Cali breweries – Knee Deep and Helm’s have received their first label approvals. As for Texas breweries, this is the first approval from Wild Acre (out of Fort Worth) which looks to be going the bottling and kegging route. As for specific beers, the Firestone Walker Barrel Works beer sounds delicious as always. Breckenridge is also coming out with a whiskey barrel aged holiday beer. This […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals December 4th 2015

By Andrew Schwab / December 4, 2015 / 0 Comments

As expected, due to the short week last week, this week’s TABC label approvals are much shorter than normal. With that said, Real Ale looks to be coming out with a new seasonal can and Corpus is getting a brewery. This week’s TABC Label Approvals: K = Keg B = Large format bottle bb = 16oz format bottle b = Small format bottle c = Small format (12oz) can cc = 16oz format can C = Larger […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals November 27th 2015

By Andrew Schwab / November 27, 2015 / 0 Comments

In this week’s TABC label and brewery approvals, all of the Bourbon County beer received approval. Granted, it came in at the last minute, and we still only had Rare and BCBS on Black Friday, but all the rest are approved. We should see the rest of them show up at a later date (I am sure they will make the announcements so you will know when it happens). Onto more local craft beer, Rusty Barrel Brewing received […]

TABC Label and Brewery Approvals November 20th 2015

By Andrew Schwab / November 20, 2015 / 0 Comments

In this week’s TABC label and brewery approvals, not many things have been approved at all. This is actually quite a slow week. With that said, Firestone Walker XIX Anniversary was approved, which is always nice to see. Considering how long it takes to get most of the barrel aged bottles from them in Austin, there is no saying when it will show up on shelves. On the topic of delayed beers, it is sounding like Cantillon is […]
