Beer Data and Statistics
For this week’s TABC label approvals it looks like the heavily delayed Cantillon now has their second approval. Along with that, we have a lot of new cans showing up. Independence made a good decision and is now canning their Austin Amber (with a solid choice of can art). Blackwater Draw (in College Station) is also looking at canning their IPA. They recently opened a second location that will focus on production in Bryan, which […]
Definitely seemed like a slower week for TABC approvals. I am guessing someone was on vacation at the TABC because most of these beers were approved last week and then they start back up on the 17th (I should note that the system is delayed so when I say they are from last week, they showed up this week on the system but approved last week). The dates on approvals usually are most days of […]
The clear place to start here is that the first Cantillon is TABC approved. With that said, expect 3 more to be approved in the near future. They seemed to have gotten caught up in the TABC approval for longer than most just due to inconsistent ABV testing (or so I have heard). Either way, the first one is through, there are more coming. Guadalupe Brewing (New Braunfels) seems to be starting to put out […]
I was somewhat expecting a brewery approval to come through from Bruery Terreux to cover all of The Bruery’s sour program, but that did not this week. I am guessing we will see that sometime in the near future. As Flood has stated, we should start to see The Bruery in March 2016 for Austin. For the rest of Texas, it is still up in the air on when they will be seeing it. This […]
Well, the obvious thing to start with here is that The Bruery is coming to Texas. Yes, this will also be in Austin and not just DFW (like Funkwerks, New Holland, AleSmith, etc). I have no real idea when it will show up as it still has to get label approvals to go through, so likely still at least a month out. Next, I want to call out Abita on something. How do you make […]
Every week, it seems, more and more breweries are entering into the Texas market. I decided to create a list of every American “craft” brewery that currently has rights to sell in Texas. I should clarify a couple of TABC rules that regulate breweries coming into Texas. In order for an out of state brewery, to sell beer in Texas, they must apply for a license (as a brewery) to sell here. This costs in the area […]
Over the last week, we started seeing Knee Deep show up in stores in Austin. It looks like their kegs will be following right after based on these approvals. Along with this, I take it this is why Alesmith released all their beers in DFW this week – all of their keg approvals just came through. Then you have Braindead Brewing (Dallas) who received their first bottle approval. It will likely be used for events […]
A long list this week for label approvals. I guess it makes up for the last two weeks of slow approvals? This week sees a shift from kegs (over last week) to a bunch of can approvals. There were over 20 can labels approved this week for various Texas and national breweries. Now, we are also seeing the recent AB-InBev purchases of 10 Barrel and Elysian showing up on approvals. That is no real surprise, they […]
This was an odd week for TABC approvals – not many came through and most that did were keg only. With that said, I am happy to see Pinthouse Pizza’s Electric Jellyfish on the list for kegs. I am hoping this means that we can see it at the north location of Pinthouse in the near future (easier for me to get to, so it is completely selfish reasons). Since the label approvals have been somewhat slow, […]
As expected, not much was happening at the TABC over the last week for label approvals. Then, I got lazy over the New Year and did not actually get around to write this up until Sunday/Monday. Anyways, here are the label and brewery approvals over the last week. This week’s TABC Label Approvals: K = Keg B = Large format bottle bb = 16oz format bottle b = Small format bottle c = Small format […]
The numbers are quite a bit lower this week than last week – which is to be expected with the holidays. I expect next week’s to be similar. With that said, 903 Brewers and Karbach Brewing both received approvals for new barrel aged bottles. 903, also, has announced distribution to the Austin area (with this bottle included). The base beer for this received a silver medal in this year’s GABF, so it is definitely one […]
A lot of beers showed up this week. I figure I should get some of the standard questions out of the way that I always seem to be asked when Jester King shows up. Yes, they have sold this at the brewery some time back. No, they do not need label approval to sell beer to go from a brewpub. They only need label approval if it is going into distribution. No, this does not […]
