Beer Data and Statistics
The biggest surprise this week, for me, is seeing Bear Republic showing back up on approvals. Bear Republic pulled out of Texas as some point last year due to the California drought, or so they say. These are the first approvals since that pull out which makes me think that they are planning on showing back up in Texas. Other notes are the Independence plans to make a Cucumber Redbud. Their original Redbud was good […]
Not too much movement on this week’s TABC label and brewery approvals. We have a newcomer to label approvals, though. Malai Kitchen (in DFW) received their first label approvals. This Asian restaurant has bee brewing for quite some time but has only sold their beer on site. They have recently opened up a second location which is likely why they are getting label approvals (as opposed for distribution). St. Elmo, in Austin, received their brewpub […]
More action on this week TABC label approvals than the week’s past. We are starting to see the first of Moody Tongue to come into Texas. Moody Tongue, from Chicago, seems to be getting a fairly solid rep up there so I have higher than usual expectations for their beer. Cans continue to be the approval of choice for many local breweries. Martin House received two new approvals this week, Community has one along with […]
The biggest news this week did not even come from TABC label or brewery approvals. Bell’s announced they plan to start distributing to Texas in 2017. While that is quite some time away, it is good to hear. Along with that, we can finally stop the 5 year long rumor that they will be coming soon. This week’s TABC Label Approvals: K = Keg B = Large format bottle bb = 16oz format bottle b = […]
While the numbers are small on this week’s TABC approvals, there were some interesting things showing up. First, there are two new breweries getting approvals. DFW’s Hopfusion received their first approvals – which they already went on tap at a bar on the very first day they received it. So, you should start seeing them around DFW immediately. Then we have Kerrville’s Pint and Plow. Both received approvals for only kegs for the time being. […]
This week’s TABC approvals seems to be about a lot of new cans. True Vine, Live Oak, Texas Ale Project, Independence, and Real Ale all have new cans approved. Cans tend to be my favorite vessel to drink a beer from, so I approve of this. Did I mention more Live Oak cans. Yes. Berliner Weisse and Primus. We can all be happy now. Also, I took a position with Goose Island as a sales […]
So, yes, I missed a week. And I am even late on this week’s TABC label approvals. I am on vacation and was meaning to, but between skiing in the Caucasus Mountains, dealing with bad Armenian and Georgian roads, and drinking crappy Eastern European mass produced lagers, I got lazy. Surprisingly, the internet was not an issue there. So, enjoy a double dose of label approvals. All of the Clown Shoes approvals are basically just […]
There is a lot going on this week with TABC label approvals. I will start with The Bruery. We are getting the first batch of their approvals showing up. I think this will give us an good idea of what we can expect to see in Texas – which is a bunch of solid beers. Tart of Darkness will always be a favorite, but we are also getting So Happens It’s Tuesday, which is a […]
The biggest news this week has got to be that Wicked Weed Brewing is coming to Texas. Now, Wicked Weed’s distribution, up to this point, has been fairly limited outside of their state (and very few states even get it). So, this is a big “get” for Texas. Along with Wicked Weed, Anthem Brewing (OKC) also received brewery approval. On to the beer labels, Last Stand is starting to get their bottles approved. You should […]
For this week’s TABC label approvals it looks like the heavily delayed Cantillon now has their second approval. Along with that, we have a lot of new cans showing up. Independence made a good decision and is now canning their Austin Amber (with a solid choice of can art). Blackwater Draw (in College Station) is also looking at canning their IPA. They recently opened a second location that will focus on production in Bryan, which […]
Definitely seemed like a slower week for TABC approvals. I am guessing someone was on vacation at the TABC because most of these beers were approved last week and then they start back up on the 17th (I should note that the system is delayed so when I say they are from last week, they showed up this week on the system but approved last week). The dates on approvals usually are most days of […]
The clear place to start here is that the first Cantillon is TABC approved. With that said, expect 3 more to be approved in the near future. They seemed to have gotten caught up in the TABC approval for longer than most just due to inconsistent ABV testing (or so I have heard). Either way, the first one is through, there are more coming. Guadalupe Brewing (New Braunfels) seems to be starting to put out […]
